In a timeless valley where two roads cross, a vinekeeper's son named Aden meets a girl named Mira drawing water at a well. On their wedding day, an old Weaver places a braided cord in their hands. Two strands they can see plainly. The third, thin and gold, catches the light only when the cord turns.
So begins the story of a marriage walked from first light to last: the golden poor years and the little foxes that gnaw at them, the children who come like arrows and must one day be loosed, the drought that starves the vines and feeds the love, the stranger's well that glitters at dusk, the grief that blows two people to opposite ends of one house, and the final season, the hardest work of all, which is learning to let each other go.
Woven throughout is the ancient wisdom of the wisest king who ever lived, veiled in story: that a cord of three strands is not quickly broken, that love is strong as death, and that many waters cannot quench it.
