About this audiobook
This third volume from eight covers the year 1914 in the Far East and Africa, and 1915 in all phases of the Great War. The Italian/Austrian battles are very well described in detail. The descriptions of the battle of Gallipoli are very interesting since the Gallipoli campaign that lasted from 25 April 1915 - 9 January 1916 is often considered to mark the birth of national consciousness in Australia and New Zealand and the date of the landing, 25 April, is known as "Anzac Day" (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps). Allied causalities included 21,255 from the UK, an estimated 10,000 dead soldiers from France, 8,709 from Australia, 2,721 from New Zealand, and 1,358 from British India. It remains the most significant commemoration of military casualties and veterans in Australia and New Zealand.
