Told by an aging Wei looking back across a lifetime, the story moves through loyalty and loss, the weight of ancestry, and the quiet cost of serving something larger than oneself. Along the way he is shaped by the men who raised him, the cousin who was nearly a brother, and the bonds formed on the road.
This is not a tale of conquering heroes. It is the account of an ordinary man caught in extraordinary times, trying to understand what he has become and what it has cost. The book is still in progress; the full shape of Wei’s journey, and the answers he seeks, remain unfinished.
