The kingdom of Florin has never needed saving before. It sits between two mountain ranges, small and green and mostly peaceful, the kind of place where nothing much happens and everyone knows everyone else's business before it happens anyway. But something is draining the color from the world, literally, starting at the edges of the kingdom and moving inward, and a girl named Elowen who has spent her whole life being told she is destined for a quiet and decorative future has decided that she is not. She has two friends, a talking crow, and absolutely no plan. The Shrieking Eels can wait. The adventure cannot.
