The Name and Tethers
A Study of the Divine Name, Jewish Mysticism, The Solomonic Tradition, and the Threads that Wove Their Way Through History Into the Modern Age By Ainslie Albright
Length2h 30m
About this audiobook
The Name and the Tethers is a theological and historical study tracing the mystery of the divine Name, from the Tetragrammaton and the hidden pronunciation of YHWH to Jewish mysticism, Kabbalah, the 72 Names, Solomon’s wisdom and fall, and the spiritual systems that carried these ideas into the modern world.
The book follows one central thread: the Name of God, how it was revealed, guarded, silenced, sought, invoked, and potentially misused across history. It explores the sacred weight of divine language, the mystical traditions surrounding Hebrew letters and creation, the Solomonic tradition of angels and demons, and the way these ideas became tethered to later movements including Hermeticism, Gnosticism, the Templars, Rosicrucianism, Freemasonry, and modern esoteric systems.
At its heart, the work is about discernment. It asks whether hidden knowledge draws humanity closer to humble dependence on God, or if it becomes a counterfeit path toward control, and self-exaltation.
