A ghost boat carries a child’s map to eleven year old Lena. The map leads to an uncharted island where Elias has lived alone since age six. His father abandoned him. Lena grows up, repairs the boat, and rescues him at seventeen. Elias struggles to re enter human life, facing fear of doors, ceilings, and crowds. He corresponds with Margret, the nurse who failed to help him in 1994, and visits her as she dies. He throws away his hoarded scraps and his island stone. He rebuilds the ghost boat and learns to sail it himself. He chooses to keep going.
