About this audiobook
In The Epistles of St. Peter and St. Jude - Preached and Explained, Martin Luther offers a vigorous Reformation-era exposition of apostolic teaching on faith, suffering, Christian liberty, and resistance to false doctrine. Cast in the direct, pastoral style of preached commentary, the work combines close attention to Scripture with polemical urgency. Luther reads Peter and Jude as living witnesses to the gospel: believers are justified by faith, strengthened amid persecution, and warned against corrupt teachers who obscure Christ's grace. Luther's interpretation arises from the central controversies of his life. As monk, professor, preacher, and reformer, he was shaped by intense engagement with Scripture and by opposition to what he regarded as ecclesiastical abuses. His concern for ordinary Christians is evident throughout: doctrine is never merely academic, but a matter of conscience, consolation, and spiritual freedom. These lectures reflect the mature voice of a theologian determined to place the biblical text above human authority. This book is recommended to readers interested in biblical interpretation, Reformation theology, and the history of preaching. It rewards those seeking both doctrinal clarity and devotional force, offering a compelling example of how Scripture was read, proclaimed, and contested in one of Christianity's most transformative periods.
