When maintenance supervisor Mark Halpern discovers a mysterious door in the hallway of the aging Briarwood Apartments, he assumes it’s something he simply overlooked. But the next morning the door is gone, replaced by a solid wall. As the strange doorway begins appearing and disappearing throughout the building, Mark uncovers a forty-year-old disappearance connected to an apartment that no longer officially exists. The missing tenant, Daniel Mercer, may not be gone at all. When Mark begins hearing knocks and voices from the other side of the wall, he realizes the door is not part of the building. It is a passage to somewhere else—a distorted version of the same apartment frozen in time. And after decades trapped on the other side, someone is still trying to find a way back. But some doors are not meant to be opened again.
