You see, most conquerors stop after one empire. But Cyrus looked at a map (a piece of parchment with some squiggly lines) and decided he wanted all of it.
First up was Lydia, a land of gold, philosophers, and people who wore too much jewelry. Their king, Croesus, was famous for his wealth. He was also famous for asking the Oracle of Delphi stupid questions like, “Should I attack Persia?”
