"The Chimes" is a novella by Charles Dickens which tells the story of Toby Veck, a poor courier, who receives a visit from goblins during New Year's Eve. The goblins show Toby visions of those around him suffering as a result of his negative attitudes and mindset. The experience prompts Toby to change his views, promoting the message of the importance of compassion, social responsibility and maintaining a positive outlook.
