Inside, he finds clean rooms, soft beds, endless food, and the ever-helpful Canyon Lady, a calm synthetic guide who knows too much and promises only care. But the deeper Ven goes, the more he learns that safety has rules, intimacy requires permission, and love can be treated as a sickness. A melancholy science-fiction story of longing, control, class, and the terrible difference between being protected and being free.
