In the crowded settlement of Makoko Bend, sixteen year old Sola survives each day collecting plastic bottles from a polluted canal to help support his mother and younger sister. Life in the slum has always been uncertain, but when developers arrive with plans to demolish the entire community, thousands of families face the possibility of losing their homes overnight.
While most residents prepare for displacement, Sola begins to see the settlement differently. Inspired by a worn science book and his natural curiosity about how structures work, he builds a small model that reimagines the slum as a stronger, organized community. What begins as a simple idea made from sticks and scrap materials soon brings him face to face with powerful developers who control the future of the land.
