On Maple Lane, one mulberry tree rules the cul-de-sac, and two kid factions have battled for years over its best branches and ripest berries. Then the leaves start falling early and the berries stop coming. Jasmine, the oldest kid, calls a truce before the rivalry ruins what they all love. The kids turn into detectives, using the public library card catalog to research tree troubles and making a brave landline call to the county extension office. With a real plan and a new promise, the North Enders and South Siders become the Mulberry Guardians, working together to save their sacred tree and their friendship too.
