La favola del mare è una silloge che racchiude trenta poesie che sono il frutto di tanti anni di esperienza e di conoscenza. I temi trattati sono davvero molti; alcuni di essi sono il risultato di un’esperienza diretta, di un’esplosione di sensazioni e di emozioni che mi assalgono nel momento in cui l’esperienza la vivo. Nello stesso momento la poesia arriva di getto, senza preavviso e, quando arriva, devo essere talmente veloce a scriverla, altrimenti la perdo. Altri temi invece, pur non avendoli vissuti, come il problema della droga ad esempio, sono solo il frutto di un’attenta osservazione e di un’allenata capacità di sapermi immedesimare nell’altro come se il problema lo stessi vivendo io stessa e anche questa sensazione, se è forte, mi scaturisce una poesia improvvisa talvolta a rima sciolta, talvolta senza rima affatto ma con una musicalità che solo chi si intende di poesia sa cogliere e comprendere. Le poesie della silloge non seguono un ordine cronologico bensì un ordine dettato dal cuore per fare in modo che i temi trattati abbiano un’affinità tra loro, dando una maggiore leggerezza e piacevolezza alla persona che si accinge a leggere. Il linguaggio adottato è molto semplice, probabilmente perché per 42 anni, avendo insegnato nella scuola dell’infanzia, mi sono dovuta rapportare con i bambini ma questo non penso sia uno svantaggio poiché in questo modo ciò che scrivo può essere comprensibile a tutti. I temi trattati sono tanti: la natura, lo scorrere del tempo, l’amore, la solitudine, il tormento interiore, la gioia, i luoghi vissuti, ma tutti trattati con rispetto e sensibilità. La silloge prende il titolo da una poesia che è quella che mi sta più a cuore, anche se talvolta mi rende un po’ triste e malinconica. The Tale of the Sea is a collection of thirty poems born of many years of experience and knowledge. It explores a wide range of themes; some arise from direct experience, from an outpouring of feelings and emotions that overwhelms me at the very moment I am living through it. At that same instant, the poem comes to me in a rush, without warning, and I must write it down very quickly or I will lose it. Other themes, however, do not arise from experiences I have lived through personally. Drug addiction, for example, is addressed solely through careful observation and my well-developed ability to put myself in another person’s place, as though I were experiencing the problem myself. When this feeling is strong, it too gives rise to a spontaneous poem, sometimes in loose rhyme, sometimes with no rhyme at all, but always with a musicality that only those who understand poetry can perceive and appreciate. The poems in the collection are not arranged chronologically, but in an order dictated by the heart, so that their themes are connected, making for a lighter and more enjoyable reading experience. The language I use is very simple, probably because I taught preschool children for forty-two years and had to communicate with them. I do not consider this a disadvantage, however, because it makes my writing accessible to everyone. The collection explores many themes: nature, the passage of time, love, loneliness, inner turmoil, joy, and the places that have been part of my life, all approached with respect and sensitivity. The collection takes its title from the poem closest to my heart, although it sometimes makes me feel a little sad and melancholy.
