About this audiobook
Being is what doing leaves behind: what karma claims, what has been measured, and where the evidence stops.
A friend asked me why one child is born into a bombed street and another into a painted room. I said it was karma. He did not accept that, and he was right not to.
Four religions built systems around the idea, and many others arrived at some version of it. For the last thirty years, laboratories have been measuring the things it actually claims: that intention is what counts, that repeated action builds the person acting, that good returns to the doer through people who gained nothing by it.
Some of those claims held up remarkably well. Others failed exactly where they could be checked. And one — that the return is deserved — turns out to be the one nothing can reach.
