About this audiobook
Ice Creams, Water Ices, Frozen Puddings Together with Refreshments for all Social Affairs is a practical yet revealing work of culinary instruction, devoted to the elegant management of frozen desserts and light entertainments. Its recipes move from custards and sherbets to punches, frappés, and party refreshments, written in the lucid, measured style of domestic science. In the context of early twentieth-century household manuals, it treats cookery as both art and system, joining refinement with reproducible technique. S. T. Rorer, better known as Sarah Tyson Rorer, was among America's influential culinary educators, associated with the Philadelphia Cooking School and the wider movement to professionalize home economics. Her training, public lectures, and editorial work shaped a generation of middle-class cooks seeking order, economy, and sophistication in the kitchen. This book reflects her conviction that successful hospitality depends not on extravagance but on knowledge, timing, and disciplined preparation. Readers interested in culinary history, domestic culture, or the evolution of American entertaining will find this volume especially rewarding. It is recommended not only as a recipe collection but as a document of social aspiration and technical pedagogy, preserving the tastes, manners, and instructional ideals of its age.
