FOUNDING FATHERS – The Men Behind the Revolution: Complete Biographies, Articles, Historical & Political Documents
Biographies and Documents of the RevolutionBy L. Carroll Judson, Emory Speer, Helen M. Campbell, John Jay (Lawyer)
Length27h 40m
About this audiobook
This capacious documentary anthology reconstructs the American Revolution through biography, political argument, and primary historical records. Bringing together lives of leading revolutionary figures with articles and state papers, it ranges from narrative portraiture and civic oratory to constitutional reflection and documentary history. Its organizing achievement lies in placing the celebrated drama of independence beside the institutions, controversies, and ethical claims that made nation-making possible, allowing landmark political texts to converse with interpretive accounts of revolutionary leadership. The contributors represent distinct but complementary traditions of American historical and civic writing. L. Carroll Judson's biographical approach, Emory Speer's legal and political sensibility, Helen M. Campbell's social and historical interests, and John Jay's proximity to the founding generation collectively enlarge the volume's frame. Their assembled materials illuminate revolutionary republicanism not merely as a sequence of battles, but as a movement of ideas concerning liberty, law, representation, federal union, and public responsibility. The collection thus links nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century historical remembrance to the eighteenth-century documents it preserves. Recommended for students, teachers, and general readers, this volume offers an unusually rich entry into the founding era. Its multiplicity of genres encourages readers to compare commemoration with evidence, biography with political theory, and individual ambition with collective purpose. As a single-volume archive and interpretive guide, it supports informed study while fostering a sustained dialogue among the Revolution's many voices.
