In the heart of the galaxy NGC 4725, the Lemian civilization stands as a testament to perfection. A federation of six species living in harmony, their society is bound by the Fluctus Vitae—a planetary consciousness that has erased war, poverty, and strife. They believe their reality is absolute, their science infallible, their future eternal.
But Rector, a brilliant and ostracized scientist, sees the cracks in their perfect world. He calls it the Progressive Decoherence of the Ontic Waveform. A disease of reality itself. The universe, he claims, is not breaking down. It’s going out of tune.
His catastrophic warnings are dismissed by the Council of Sages as alarmist fantasy, the ravings of a madman. His political rival, the charismatic demagogue Leminius Persil, uses the opportunity to discredit him, playing on the Council's fear of change.
