The Collapse follows Hiyam, a meticulous marine researcher living in a controlled, luxurious life in Dubai with her architect husband, Yasser. Seeking intellectual and emotional clarity, she travels alone to a remote Gulf island for coral research, where she discovers a disturbing violet organism that appears disturbingly human. After experiencing an unexplained assault at the isolated station—one the authorities cannot verify—Hiyam returns to Dubai physically bruised but institutionally doubted. As medical and psychological systems attempt to rationalize her experience, she becomes increasingly convinced that something real and unsettling lies beneath the surface of both the sea and the carefully engineered world around her, marking the beginning of a deeper, more dangerous search.
